AWIP's EPDs have evolved through a phased rollout to reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. The first phase introduced EPDs for PIR products, followed by the second phase, which incorporated InnovaCELL foam for enhanced thermal performance and sustainability. The latest phase combines InnovaCELL with lower embodied carbon (LEC) steel, achieving up to a 20% reduction in embodied carbon compared to earlier versions. This progression demonstrates AWIP's dedication to reducing environmental impact while maintaining industry-leading product performance.

AWIP's EPDs eliminate uncertainty factors often present in non-specific EPDs. By providing product-specific, location-specific, and configuration-specific data, our EPDs ensure more accurate embodied carbon calculations. This level of precision supports compliance and gives architects and builders the confidence to meet even the most demanding project requirements.
A comparative study evaluated OneDek® against a conventional low-slope warehouse roof assembly across five U.S. regions, measuring embodied carbon, raw material mass and installation efficiency. Across all modeled locations, OneDek delivered 19% to 21% lower embodied carbon per square foot. In Georgia, California and Texas, typical assemblies measured 9.9 kgCO2e/SF compared to 8.0 kgCO2e/SF for OneDek. In Washington, D.C., and Minnesota, typical assemblies measured 11.3 kgCO2e/SF compared to 8.9 kgCO2e/SF for OneDek. The study also found that OneDek reduced raw material mass by 51% to 55% compared with typical assemblies. By consolidating multiple roofing components into a more integrated system, OneDek helps reduce material demand, streamline construction and minimize on-site complexity. These outcomes support practical, low-carbon building strategies for architects, owners and project teams seeking measurable progress in building envelope performance.
